Here's what people have to say about me in regard to
training, private lessons and group sessions...
I’ve known Karen for many years. Over this time, she has been an excellent horsewoman, learning and growing along the way. She has an uncanny sense of the horse and applies patience and gentle persuasion in her training. Speaking about her patience, when working with young kids, she has immense patience in teaching and every child has a great experience and leaves with new skills. Karen has a happy-go-lucky attitude and is a pleasure on the trails and in the barn.

I start the horses under saddle after Karen has finished their ground work. I credit Karen's training methods for not needing to "buck out" a horse since we've started working together. "Thanks Karen!!!"

Karen, Took your horse leg bandaging class on Sat. 2/10/07 which was fabulous!! Your presentation was easy to follow and I can now bandage myself! I liked all the different kinds of bandages, tape, gauze etc. you showed us, as this helped us to see all the different options for various types of injuries. I'm looking forward to the basic groundwork training on Feb. 24th and other classes you offer in the future.

I attended your "leg bandaging" class on Feb. 10th and found it to be very helpful. You are a great instructor! After listening and practicing even I was able to do a good bandaging job. Hands-on is the best way to learn. Thanks.

After many years of not being on a horse, I was so lucky to find Karen Yeager to take riding lessons from at Lone Star Ranch!
It has been an incredible experience working with Karen and her horse Mihijo! Her natural horse experience, patience and dedication pours out in her training abilities. She is truly gifted. Her love for training and sharing her horse knowledge with others is something that everyone should experience in their lifetime. I've asked many of the same questions several times and Karen has always answered them with patience and a positive attitude!
I can't wait until I'm ready to hit the trails with Karen and the friends at Lone Star Ranch!

I had posted a message to a horse group in regard to natural horsemanship training that included the following quote: “And for the mare I've had for just over a year who majorly lacked confidence, she trusts me so much now and works through things with little encouragement rather than being the major drama queen she thought she was (right, Carrie? You saw us work pretty quickly and painlessly through a few issues when we rode together last week.)”
Carrie replied:
I absolutely saw a very experienced quiet and calm horse woman on this mare, as a matter of fact I asked her if her legs felt like jelly, I know mine would have, I probably would have been walking home as well. She takes things in stride and goes w/ the moment. This mare had a couple issues on the trail and Karen handled them w/ the greatest of ease as did her mare (excellent ground work). Karen has the patience of a saint w/ her horses and students. I have been working w/ her and her horses now for about 3 weeks and have built my confidence that I was so lacking after taking a fall that shook me up pretty bad, this was the 1st time out on the trail in a year for me for a good amount of time normally I turn around because I start to panic. If anybody here is looking for an instructor in saddle/ground work/trailering etc she is the gal for you, I could go on and on I can't say enough, in closing I would like to thank Karen for all she has done for me and I believe I have found a new friend and riding partner for life.
Regards,
Carrie
I spent most of today with Karen, her training is so gentle yet very effective. I worked with two horses today that are so amazing on the ground! I got nervous and Karen took the horse and just let me relax back to a calm spot and then worked with me and the horse again. I am impressed with her work, and will be going out again soon to learn from her and to work on my fears around horses that have manners so I can gain my confidence and in between will be working with my horse teaching manners as I work on lowering my fear level. If anyone has a horse that needs ground manners I recommend Karen! Her paint horse or rather her client's paint horse looked like some of the ones I have seen on You Tube where you just watch with your mouth open, very very mannered and respectful, yet not out of fear but because they wanted to work for her. I am not easy to impress, I am quite a harsh judge so.............. it was a good day for me, tomorrow I will go to see my own horses and I should have a bit more confidence to work with
them.

Hello everyone, wanted to send an update. Karen and my daughter have been helping me to work with my fear issues as many of you know. I have met with Karen three times now and working closely with her and her horses. She would let me watch and explain each move she made and why. Then we would stand side by side with her closer to the horse and lead the horse. Next I finally led the horse on the horse side, eventually I did a tiny bit of work with the horse on the longe line, shaking knees and hands.
After working with Karen my daughter would meet me on the other days at the stable. Somedays I would lead the horses out but she would have to work them, some days she would lead them and work them, and I would watch and when they were calm and soft I would help groom them. With confidence building throughout the day and dissolving over night. But finally I went in and did some softening work in the corral and got scared to walk out, but then once she had one in the round pen and took out the yeehaws I would work them.
THEN yesterday I visited with Karen and spent time again with both of us and the horse Java in the round pen. For some reason this horse and I really connected. I thought she might be a little scarey but Karen worked me through and with Java's kind nature I had 0 fear yesterday ZERO! Hooray. I feel like I might be able to go and lead and work my own horses. We will see.
I want to thank Karen publicly for giving me her time and talent, she is very good at what she does and I even got to see a mule learn to trailer willingly while I was there. Not once did I see aggressive treatment to get him in. He did it on his time and she was patient with him and his owner. Soon I imagine the saddle will even look less like a torture device to me! In other words Debbie will ride again!
LOL
If anyone needs ground training, this is the woman for you and your horse. Seriously I am very picky about who is allowed to touch my horses and I trust her and know I would see immediate results.
Thanks Karen a million times, and see you next week, oh and I will have to remember the sunscreen, I look like California fried Debbie, tomatoe ears and all.
