Jack
My friend Jane helped me find a new home for Jack.
George and Kathy of Rainbow Ridge took him home on July 12th.
Kathy called a week and a half later with an update
of how well he's working out for them.

Six
Six is the new addition to our equine family
as of May 1, 2011.
He looks to be thoroughbred/quarter, is about 15 yrs old
from what I've been told (but going on 3) and about 15h.
He has an AWESOME personality!

Cowgirl Camp

was just held
March 12-13, 2011.
A good time was had by all -
check out the pictures -
and all the smiles!

Buster

Buster joined our family on May 2, 2009. He's a cross between
a purebred Australian Cattle Dog (dad) and who knows what -
lab looking but maybe pit bull-ish (mom).
He's an awesome dog and we're lucky to have him.

AV Volunteer Mounted Unit

In January of 2009 - I (finally!) became a qualified member of the
Los Angeles County Sheriff's AV Volunteer Mounted Unit

Malibu "Corral Fire" Saturday, November 24, 2007

Don and I were activated as a "trailer team" by LACDACCERT and made our way to the Incident Command Center for the Corral Fire (which was at the Malibu Civic Center).  As it turned out, no horses needed to be evacuated (we weren't activated until Sunday at about 8 am).
By the way - believe all those signs you see on the stretch of 23 that goes from the 101 to PCH that advise not to haul a trailer on that road -
it's a bit hairy to say the least - but Don said I did a great job

We have a few photos to share...

Parked at the Incident Command Center.
The CHP and Sheriff's Mobile Command Centers
are in the background.

Another view of the Incident Command Center.
See all the news vans?
We found out the governator was going to stop by.

In the lower right corner of this picture you can see what's left
of a castle that burned down in last month's fire.

Here's Arnold being briefed on everything.

And this is just a few minutes later
(when the media got their turn with him).

Bandit

Bandit became an addition to our family in September 2007.
He's a lab/shepherd cross so we'd been told.

Wild Mustang Adoption

A wild mustang adoption was held May 19-21, 2007 in Acton.
I honestly thought I was just going to go to get an idea of
how the whole operaton works and before I knew it...

along came Badger.
Bob and Don named him Badger because of that marking
on his forehead that looks so much like a badge.
(FYI - Bob is a retired LAPD officer and
Don is a retired Glendale firefighter.)
